Tooth pain is one of the most common concerns our patients experience. This pain can be experienced while biting or chewing, brushing or flossing or even consistently with no stimulation at all. In simple cases, the discomfort, pain or bleeding may be the result of inflammation caused by bacteria or irritation, but in severe cases the pain may be an indication of something worse. If a tooth has been irreparably damaged by trauma or decay, Dr. Chris Givens or Dr. Jared Britt may recommend tooth extraction to save your smile and restore your oral health. The treatment is safe and comfortable when performed with modern techniques, including conveniences such as sedation dentistry.

If you need a tooth extraction, it may be for many reasons, though removing a tooth is never our first solution to your dental concerns, except in extreme cases where the tooth cannot be saved and the health of your smile is at risk. If you’ve struggled with gum disease, experienced oral trauma, or had cavities that went untreated for an extended period, then your tooth may be in too poor a condition to save.
If your dental situation requires tooth removal, our team will provide tooth replacement solutions with dental implants. Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement, and with CEREC® technology, we can often create a new dental crown to replace your tooth right here in our office on the same day as the extraction or shortly after that. With dental implants as a solution, you can look at tooth extraction not as a final resort but as a step toward a lifetime of healthier smiles.
